DDU 570/L Diffusion Dryer Unit
Short-model silica-gel diffusion dryer for water-containing aerosols, providing passive drying at inlet flow rates up to 5 L/min with minimal particle loss.
Model Overview
| Model | Configuration | Primary use | Selection note |
|---|---|---|---|
| DDU 570/L | 410 g silica gel; 5 L/min | Short-model silica-gel diffusion dryer for water-containing aerosols, providing passive drying at inlet flow rates up to 5 L/min with minimal particle loss | Select the short model for compact laboratory setups and aerosol flow rates up to 5 L/min. |
Key Features
Diffusion drying with silica gel
Water vapour diffuses from the aerosol stream into a dry silica-gel environment while particles remain inside screened flow tubes.
Minimal particle loss
The aerosol does not flow directly through the desiccant, reducing deposition and particle loss during drying.
Visual desiccant condition
Indicator silica gel changes colour as moisture loading increases, providing a direct service indication.
Regenerable drying medium
The silica gel can be regenerated using a suitable drying oven or desiccator procedure.
Downstream aerosol conditioning
Installs after an atomizer or aerosol generator to remove water from droplets produced from aqueous suspensions or solutions.
Compact passive operation
Requires no electrical power and can be integrated directly into laboratory aerosol lines using the specified hose connectors.

Applications
Drying wet aerosols
Removes water vapour from aerosols generated from aqueous suspensions or solutions before downstream measurement.
Reference-particle aerosol preparation
Supports generation of calibration aerosols from aqueous suspensions of reference particles with Topas atomizer generators.
Condensation-nuclei preparation
Can be used after an atomizer as a nuclei source in condensation-aerosol generation workflows.
Preconditioning before particle sizing
Reduces humidity before optical or mobility-based particle measurement where excess moisture can affect results.
Laboratory aerosol studies
Provides passive diffusion drying for experimental aerosol generation and transport studies.
Dry challenge-aerosol preparation
Supports dry aerosol delivery to filter-test systems when aqueous atomization is used upstream.
